It’s all well and good to write a book about Choosing and Cooking Sustainable Fish species; it’s even better to get out and sell it.

The Guide to Fish is going to market…

The Melbourne Community Farmers Markets are on every Saturday in different locations around Melbourne. In the lead up to Christmas, I’ll be selling the Guide to Fish at the following locations:

Saturday 6th December

Veg Out Community Gardens, Chaucer St, St Kilda. 8.30am – 1pm

            Saturday 13th December

Collingwood Childrens Farm, St Heliers St, Abbotsford 8am – 1pm

            Saturday 20th December

Gasworks Arts Park, Graham St, Albert Park, 8.30am – 1pm

This is a great opportunity to talk fish, debate cooking methods, discuss different recipes and chat about wine, beer and food matches. The Guide to Fish is full of suggestions on what sustainable  fish and seasonal vegetables are available to put in your market basket; it’s also a great stocking filler for this festive time of year!

There’ll be information about the Australian Marine Conservation Society and BeerMasons who both contributed to the Guide to Fish.

The Melbourne Community Farmers’ Markets are not-for-profit farmers’ markets run by local community groups. These markets are dedicated to and motivated by biodiversity, seasonality, regional food cultures and sustainable farm practices. They hope to constantly improve the relationship between producer and consumer.

The producers at the markets want us to think about the food we eat. They hope we can appreciate the journey from paddock to plate by bringing it to the city and making their produce easy for us to access.

That’s food with thought on a deliciously tangible scale…if you’re in Melbourne, see you there.
